Wentao Zhao is an invited lecturer for the fall 2021 Quantitative Risk Management lecture series hosted by CoFES. Interested CoFES members and Rice University students who wish to attend the virtual lecture register here.  

Wentao ZhaoWentao Zhao is a quantitative analytics manager in global gas optimization and trading at ExxonMobil. His main responsibilities are risk management, structuring and hedging, economic forecast, and related quantitative modeling.

Prior to joining ExxonMobil in 2019, he was a vice president in quantitative research analysis at PIMCO working on strategic asset allocation and cross-asset class strategies. Previously, he was a vice president in quantitative analysis at MUFG Union Bank in San Francisco developing wholesale credit models. He started his career in 2008 as a quantitative researcher on the power and gas trading floor in CononoPhillips.

Zhao holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering at Texas A&M University and a master's and bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.
